Great telephone/answering machine, but inadequate instructions.,

This telephone is promoted to people with age-related deficits such as hearing loss, reduced vision, reduced manual dexterity, etc. I have no such deficits, but I bought it because I like things easy: Big buttons that are easy to find and push. Sound that is easy to hear. A simple user interface. And I got what I wanted.
The hardware seems well designed and well made. It has some convenience features that did not influence my purchase decision, but I like them very much: The ability to have the answering machine beep periodically when a message is waiting to be heard -- or turn off the beep if you prefer not to have that feature activated. The ability to record a message to yourself. A display on the phone that tells you the current time and date. An extra handset with its own recharging base that you can locate anywhere in the house. A speed dial feature that allows you to dial nine of your most commonly called numbers by just holding down one of the buttons for a couple...Read more

problems with numbers,

I purchased the Clarity D613C in October for my grandmother who is 95 years old and has some hearing loss. She lives in the Caribbean during the winter months, and I had the phone sent to a friend who was her way to that island for for a short visit and agreed to take the phone to my grandmother for me. Now the phone works well except for one thing...The number nine (9) on the key pad on one of the phones does not work ! Since she has to dial the number nine as part of the group of numbers needed to call anyone on that island (491-....)that handset is totaly useless to her to dial out. I am unable to go there at this time an retrieve the phone in order to return it, and mailing/shipping it back here cost more than I payed for the phone. I am very disappointed with this product! My suggestion when purchasing a phone for someone, test every number/key before delivering phone.

I bought this for my dad who is in his 90's. Everything works as advertised. The buttons are large and easy to read, the volume is good. the charge lasts a long time. It is light enough that he can carry it in his shirt pocket.
I'm very pleased with this purchase.
