AT&T DECT 6.0 CL82409 Digital 6-handset Cordless Telephone with Caller ID/Call Waiting

Replaced a set of 5.8 AT&T cordless phones with the CL82409.
Audio quality reports from folks I called were very good.
One friend said it sounded like a corded phone.
Range is much further than 5.8 phones. About
300' so far with no back ground noise and solid dial tone.
Will try at the mail box soon, thats another 150' or so.
I have tried to find out if DECT 6.0 phones have a better encryption scheme,
but unable to find specifics.
We are very happy with the new CL82409 phones.
Total talk time looks like its going to be very good.
We purchased from Amazon.com and we are very pleased with them as well.

Solid little system.

Set up could not be easier. The ability to create and update the directory from any of the 6 phones is very nice.

I keep 2 phones in the basement; 2 phones, with the base on the main floor; and 2 phones on the upper floor. There have been no range issues at all. There is some interference with computer speakers if you leave them within 6"...not a problem.

The intercom feature works very well, but I wish you could name each of the remotes instead of having to remember that number 3 is in the TV Room.

The sound quality is adequate, but could be better. The voice mail sound quality is "in a barrel."

Features it does not have: Selective call rejection; Selective Ring tone; downloadable directory (no one has this, as far as I can tell.

I looked for a cordless telephone with the features that I wanted for quite awhile.
This had them. I wanted more than two additional handsets. This one had 6 total. I wanted a small base so that it could fit anywhere and good sound quality. Now my husband and I have a handset on each side of the bed. No more "your closer" and the answering machine doesn't beep when not answered. Love that!
