Comment: I bought this phone to replace the ATT Caller-ID 240 which I purchased in 2007 (the 240 was causing me to repeat too much-- ppl on the other end couldn't seem to hear me anymore--a real pain).
Pleased with this ATT Trimline 1909. Sound quality is very good (ppl on the other end CAN hear me) and I can hear them well. It's a nice solid little phone. For me, it's easy to read the Caller-ID (even tho' it doesn't light-up) and it was very easy for me to set-up and program.
Of Note: I have it wall mounted but noticed that the phone line to wall-jack inside cord is permanent and can't be changed; the length you get is what it is to the wall jack--looks long enough for most situations.
The handset to phone curl cord, thankfully, could be changed since I like a long handset cord; I replaced it easily w/the one from my old phone. (Returned a GE model once that had a handset cord that couldn't be changed and was way too short for me).
Amazon's price can't be beat. I'm used to the style of buttons on both sides, so the design to me isn't an issue. I've learned how to hold them over the years. Won't use a cordless phone when calling banks or to give credit card numbers or bank acct numbers--so I'm Very pleased with this model to replace my old one.

Summary: What do you want for 12 bucks? 2010-07-11
Comment: OK, I wouldn't recommend this as an everyday phone. Like most people I prefer the versatility of a cordless. But a corded phone is nice for power failures. I got this one to replace a trim phone from radioshack that just stopped working. All I want the phone to do is sit there and have a dial tone. (Too much to ask of radioshack.) The display on the outside of phone allows you to weed out calls you don't want to answer. As for the grip problems, I suggest holding it with your fingertips; it's a phone- not a banana.

Summary: May be the worst phone ever 2010-03-10
Comment: This may be the worst phone ever. If you try to tuck the phone between your shoulder while you talk, you will end up pressing the on-hook switch with your cheek, disconnecting the call. If you hold it in your hand, you will end up pressing the flash button (on the back) with your finger.
Either way if you talk on the phone for more than 5 minutes, you will end up hanging up on your caller!
This phone is going in the trash as soon as I get a replacement.
(It is well made and the call quality is fine - I just can't keep a call going for more than 2 minutes at a time)

Summary: Very disappointed. AT&T should be ashamed. 2009-10-06
Comment: Really bad phone. The key pad "0" did not work. The keys do not light. The caller ID window does not light. I returned phone. Thank you 'Amazon' for an excellent return policy.

Summary: Great Phone 2009-09-19
Comment: It is a great phone!! If you are presently engaged in a conversation and the phone is clickin you do not have to click over to see who is calling you can simply turn the phone over and see who it is that is calling and if you want to answer it you can and if not you can just right the number down and continue the conversation.
