I bought this for my 88-year-old father, took it to his house and had it hooked up to a land line phone and working within minutes, using the very simple instructions. Lately I have to shout for my father to hear me even with his hearing aids on. After I connected the amplifier, I went upstairs and called him from my cell phone. We were able to talk quite easily in normal tones with him hearing every word I said. I walked back into the room where he was on his amplified phone and said "This works so well, I hate to hang up." He agreed so we sat in the same room for a few minutes still talking by phone. When we did hang up, I said, "That was great, wasn't it?" and he said, "What?" Now if I have important information for him I make sure I impart it over the phone. I am quite pleased with the way this little device works and the way it has improved his life.
Did not perform,

The device, when properly connected per instructions, not only did not enhance sound on incoming calls but reduced the volume for the party calling in! Disappointing but it simply did more harm than good.

The plug head slot is narrow, and a standard phone cord will not fit in it. Amazon told me to send it back, there is no other size phone cord for me to substitute.
Edited to reflect that yes. I was putting it in the wrong part of the phone. Now I need to find out if it affects my outgoing sound as the other person posted.
