I'm giving this a 2 w/ some explanation. When I bought this it must have been on a great sale. I would never have considered it for anything close to the amount that they are asking as I write this (listed 179.00, paid 59.00).
I had little trouble setting up the news feature but I had to make a cable for it to work (CAT 5E cable not included.) I connected it right to my router and it was recognized.
There is an online setup once the "base" is connected to the network that you can use to setup some features of the router. But you can't change the voicemail number that is dialed on the phone to one that you need.
I'm also having some issues with one of the phone not hanging up when you either hang up via the button or using it's charging base, I haven't looked real hard into that because it's only happened once, but it is still a cause for pause.
I haven't made up my mind if I should return it yet or not.
I think that while I'm logged on I'll contact Amazon...Read more

I liked this unit because the base unit is not attached to a phone. I was able to plug it into my router and phone line and not have a phone with it. I then placed all the receivers around the house. The RSS feeds are cool. I ordered 3 more handsets and the ring tones are pretty cool too. If I had paid more I might have not been as satisfied, but for the money and the features you can't beat it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stop working after a few months, August 23, 2009

The look and feature sounds attracting, but definitely not worth the full price. I got mine for around $15 in Fry's expecting it can be used as a normal cordless phone.

There are some fundamental problems with the phone:
1. The battery life is too bad. If not always in cradle, I do not think it lasts more than a day with minor usage.
2. The back light was always on, maybe dim a little, but it is still on. One of the reason for short battery?
3. The keypad is not responsive. Lots of time after I pressed a number and I found it missed several digits. I have to press very hard. And the keypad is too flat and slippery.

The web page is ok but can be improved a lot. And more convenient features not there should be pretty easy to add if GE really wanted to make it better.

NOW, the biggest problem comes after only a few months of usage - one of handset can no longer registered, no matter what methods I tried.

I give it 1 stars...Read more
