First of all, the set I have is 28821FJ3, with the only difference being that a 3rd "phone" unit, i.e. the speakerphone/intercom is included as part of the set. I just bought a 2nd one of these intercoms yesterday link: http://www.amazon.com/GE-28108FE1-Wireless-Speakerphone-Accessory/dp/B001B3MRYC/ref=dp_cp_ob_e_title_0?ie=UTF8&qid=1279557550&sr=1-10 to add into my set which is over 1 year old now and still going (pretty) strong. Only issue I've had is that the handset battery life ain't the greatest, but hey-what do you want when the entire set cost only thirty six bucks shipped from fryselectronicos in CA (they do charge shipping, but no tax out of state). This review is from: 70's Fringed Vest (Electronics) I had previously purchased this product, but a lightning strike took out the main unit. I looked into replacement options and decided to repurchase. I have kept the two new handsets as spares. Installing and registering the handsets from the previous purchase was not a problem (though they were labelled by the system as handsets 3 & 4 - nice to know that the two in the box were pre-registered). Currently working well. By This review is from: 70's Fringed Vest (Electronics) One handset was dead on arrival. The base station keeps a "new message" display that can't be cleared. The manual is hard to follow. The intercom extensions I bought don't really work like intercoms. You can't just make an announcement over them, you have to call and hope the other end hears the little "beep" and answers. I wanted to use them to wake up the kids for school but there's no way. It says "GE" on the box but they sold their phone business to Thomson who actually makes them. To get service I called the merchant who referred me to GE who referred me to Thomson, then back to the merchant for a replacement. Merchant wanted entire system returned including manuals & unfilled out warranty cards & I pay for shipping. They said to allow 5 days for them to "inspect" the return before I would get a refund or replacement. Phones are in trash and after a week without telemarketing calls from India, marketing surveys, charitable donation requests and wrong number calls I am...Read more |
