Amazon.com Product Description
The IBM IBM-3460's headset lets you talk with your hands free--without cramping your neck, and keeps your phone line crisp with 900 MHz transmission. 50-channel auto-scan ensures the clearest connection, and the 65,000 security codes help ensure that only you can access your line. The three-line LCD works in conjunction with Caller ID/Call Waiting service offered by most local phone companies, storing the names and numbers of the last 30 callers, and enabling easy, one-button call returns. The phone also displays phone numbers as you dial, helping you minimize embarrassing misdials to strangers. Other nice features include a 10 number memory for frequently dialed friends, a page/handset locator, receiver volume control, PC/fax data jack, belt clip, and hearing aid compatibility. The phone is backed by a one-year warranty.

4.0 out of 5 stars High Quality, Useful Features, Low Price, August 6, 2001

This review is from: IBM-3460 Cordless Analog 2.4 GHz Speakerphone with Call Waiting, Caller ID and Headset (Office Product)
This is a good choice for those seeking the advantages of a well-made and nicely-equipped 2.4GHz cordless phone at a relatively modest price.

The IBM 3460 incorporates a number of useful features usually found only in more expensive models, including 3-line multifunction lcd screen, base unit with separate keypad and speakerphone, call waiting and caller id compatibility, ringer volume control, positive tactile keypad feedback, and more.

This unit's clean, understated, contemporary design is aesthetically pleasing; its classic lines are unintrusive and should stand up well under the test of time.

Although it operates at the higher 2.4GHz frequency, this phone uses analog technology, not digital, so it is not (nor does IBM claim it to be) a truly "state of the art" product. You can spend considerably more for a digital model in return for somewhat better sound quality, but most people will be very satisfied with the overall performance of this phone, particularly given...Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Poorly designed, December 19, 2001

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: IBM-3460 Cordless Analog 2.4 GHz Speakerphone with Call Waiting, Caller ID and Headset (Office Product)
This phone is so poorly designed that I returned it after 1 month. The primary issues are ...

(1) You always have to press the "Talk" button 3 times (not once) in order to get a dial tone.

(2) When a voice message is waiting, the phone beeps loudly every 30 seconds. Very annoying when you let the phone take a message because you are preoccupied or have company visiting.

(3) If you have the base wallmounted, the handset does not rest securely in the base -- Half the time it falls off when you set it down.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ugh, December 24, 2002

This is perhaps the worst electronics purchase I have ever made. The phone would sometimes auto answer from the base when you picked it up, sometimes not, so half the time you were either trying to talk into a ringing phone or inadvertently disconnecting someone when you pushed the talk button. A real design innovation. I once pushed the hold button when hanging up the phone, causing the line to be busy for about 12 hours. Why would the hold button stay engaged after a call is ended? It makes no sense. The static was deplorable after a while, and the phone was unusable if you ran the microwave. Was this product not tested? Finally couldn't stand it and replaced it after less than a year.
