Caller ID/call waiting compatible, the MD481 holds up to 40 numbers in its internal caller ID memory, and also features a 99-number phone directory (50 per handset, 49 shared) to help you keep track of important numbers. Speakerphones are provided on both the base and the handset, and a headset jack allows you to connect an optional headset for mobile, hands-free communication. A room monitor mode lets you hear what's going on at another handset location, while another mode lets you use the handsets as walkie-talkies.
A page/handset locator makes finding a lost handset quick and easy, and a low-battery indicator lets you know when to return the handset to its cradle to recharge. The all-digital answering machine has one mailbox, which comes with a 15-minute maximum recording time. A memo feature lets you record notes such as driving directions for later recall, while remote operation lets you check your messages while you are away. The MD481 also comes backed with a one-year limited warranty.

Loved the intercom features and the 3 expansion units.Easy setup options. The key pad on the base is a plus as well. For the number of features I found it to be the best buy. However, one month ago I noticed the handset buttons randomly quick working. Some phones would not register. On one you could hear the caller but they could not hear you.I was down to leaning over the speaker phone on the base to answer the phone. I called Motorola service, ( 800-353-2729}they said they were aware of the problem, had fixed it and are sending me 4 replacement handsets at no charge. Even after 90 day warranty had expired! 7 of 8 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Motorola MD481 2.4 GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering Device (Silver) (Office Product) Buyer Beware...read reviews and search the web for info before you purchase. Great features, but not worth it if the volume is weak, tinny sound and uncomfortable bump design against ear.
Battery does not last long either. Hopefully motorola will redesign after receiving enough returned phones and bad reviews. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Roy (CA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Motorola MD481 2.4 GHz Digital Expandable Cordless Phone with Dual Handsets and Answering Device (Silver) (Office Product) Do not buy this phone. I bought it because I thought Motorola was reliable & I liked the look. There is static on the line (changing the channel does help) & the person on the other line has a difficult time hearing me. But the worst problem with this phone, just like the other complaints,is the battery life & it seems like it has gotten worse. If the phone is off the charger for 10 to 20 minutes the phone will go out. My old Panasonic telephone was much better. I will throw this one out & purchase a new one after I do my research. |
