For those who subscribe to the Caller ID service, offered by most local carriers, the phone's handset offers a two-line LCD. Forty names and numbers can be stored in the headset, and there's a new call indicator to let you know when you've missed a call. The phone also features an integrated answering system, which will store up to 15 minutes of messages, and remote operation, meaning that messages can be retrieved from any phone when you're away from home.
In addition, the base and handset can be used as a one-way intercom, letting the user at the base speak to the user of the handset, handy for bringing a spouse in from the garden or a child down for dinner. The 36248-M2 also offers a 10-number memory for frequently dialed friends, as well as redial, mute, volume control, and hearing aid compatibility.

Simple tasks are made difficult, with programming codes, etc. It is almost impossible to hear people talking. The volume on the answering machine can not muted. The worst thing of all is that the phone lets out an annoying beep every hour on the hour as it checks for voice mail messages. ** Even if it is free, do not get this phone. ** 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer This review is from: Northwestern Bell 36248-M6 2.4 GHz Cordless Phone with Caller ID and Digital Answering System (Metallic Gray) (Office Product) if you would like to be heard by the person you are talking to absolutely do not purchase this phone. It is terrible. It advertises 2.4ghz technology, however my 900hz phone works 10x's better. even if you increase the volume the caller can hear you as a whisper even if you are standing right next to the base. In addition, the answering machine is akward to use. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: By ATLien Transcended "ATLien Transcended" (Atlanta, GA United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Northwestern Bell 36248-M6 2.4 GHz Analog Cordless Telephone with Answering System and Caller ID (Champagne) (Office Product) The phone itself is a good phone for around the house but both the phone and answering machine have horrible volume and you must turn them all the way up just to hear what is being said. |
