Panasonic KX-TG4033B DECT 6.0 PLUS Expandable Digital Cordless Answering System with 3 Handsets

This is the third set of these phones I've purchased, with two sets being gifts. Every aspect of these phones is fantastic, from talking caller ID to the universal phone book, and the battery life is excellent as well. Talking caller ID gives an occasional laugh as well as it tries to pronounce the "name" associated with the number. (Just listen it pronounce "CVS" when the pharmacy calls about your prescription.) The ability to pick up messages from any of the phones, not just the base station is very useful as well.

A bonus that just became apparent to me is the fact that the batteries these phones use are not of the proprietary (and expensive) variety, but rechargeable AAA's.

The phone was shipped promptly and arrived in good condition. I have always liked Panasonic phones, and this is the third one I have purchased. While the first two were great, this one has two very dissapointing characteristics. First, if you are looking for a wallmount phone, keep looking. While this phone does include a wall mount bracket, it must have been an afterthought. The phone will not hang on the wall like a conventional wallmount phone, but mounts on the wall like it was sitting on a table. This looks stupid and puts the phone way too high if you have a conventional wall mount jack. Secondly, although the phone's caller ID will announce who is calling, I have yet to hear a pronounciation that was clear enough to recognize the caller. This was a three phone package and the intercom--page feature between phones can be handy when the phones are spread around your house.

These really are great phones. They have great range, great battery life, great feature set, and corded telephone sound quality. We replaced a set of 5.8 Ghz Panasonic phones with these because we had lost one of the handsets and the other two were no longer holding a full charge (they're on their 2nd or 3rd set of batteries). Rather than replace the batteries and handset (again), I opted to upgrade to a DECT 6.0 system. We've only had the system a few days so my initial impression may change but so far I have no complaints, although pronunciation of the caller ID is a monor quibble. We were very happy with the 5.8 Ghz Panasonics for the several years we had them but these are better in every respect. Long term my impression may change but I'm hoping these will provide the same dependable service our previous Panansonic phone systems have.
