The KX-TGA400B handset works with the KX-TG4000B four-line cordlesstelephone system, giving your small business or home theproductivity-enhancing features of a business telephone system withoutthe high price tag. It communicateswith the KX-TG4000B base unit in both directions using 2.4 GHzfrequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) transmission. FHSS technologyimproves calling range and clarity, and eliminates crosstalk. Becauseit rapidly changes transmission frequencies within the 2.4 GHzbandwidth, this cordless system helps reduce the possibility ofeavesdropping.

The KX-TG4000B phone system operates via cordlesstransmissions, so no expensive (and messy) wiring or installation isrequired. Simply hook up the base to your phone lines and plug it intoan AC outlet. Then, set up the included KX-TGA400B handset in thedesired location and plug in the recharging stand. You can add up toeight KX-TGA400B handsets to the system.

Dual caller ID with callwaiting lets you view the name and number of all incoming callers oneither the base unit or handset LCD--even if you're already on theline. This caller ID feature also stores up to 50 names on the baseunit (up to 30 names on each handset), with direct callbackcapability. And thanks to caller ID pager call, you can even programthe phone to notify your pager when you've received an incoming call, and to forward caller ID data to your pager's display. (Subscriptionto caller ID services is required.)

Other handset features includetwo-way intercom/paging with the base unit and other handsets, alighted handset keypad, headset jack, and a belt clip. The handsetoffers up to eight hours of talk time and up to 96 hours of standbybattery life.

4.0 out of 5 stars Best 4-line phone out there, November 5, 2001

This review is from: Panasonic KXTGA400B 2.4GHz Accessory Handset for KXTG4000B Expandable Phone (Black) (Office Product)
I bought this for my home office - we have 2 home lines, a fax/dsl and a business line. This phone pretty much does it all - you can answer each line with a different outgoing message, set up mail boxes for different people, and even have different lines ring on different handsets, or not ring at all (i.e. the fax). The range is very good (I can usually get it to go about 400 feet outdoors in a suburban neighborhood). The handsets are pretty much the same size as the Panasonic 2.4mHz standard. Battery life seems fine.My biggest peeve is that you can't use 2 handsets on the same line at the same time (I guess that is what the extension is for) and that one of the four handsets we got refuses to work properly - something with the battery, but Panasonic has been pretty helpful.

If you read through the posts here you will find that the # 1 key on these handsets fail. You will also learn that many customers have contacted Panasonic by Phone, email, even regular mail to the Corporate office. Panasonic's response is the same, After the warranty, tough luck SUCKERS!. How can a company like this not stand behind a faulty product. I've replaced the handsets once already because of the # 1 key not working anymore and now the replacements, BRAND new handsets purchased just 12 months ago have also stopped dialing the # 1 key.

Panasonic is aware of the problem, but they don't care, in fact they know that you spent enough money on the system to be able to milk you for the cost of the replacement handsets. It's good money for them. Way to Go Panasonic, way to screw average Joe Consumer. UNREAL. I'm never buying anything Panasonic again and I'm so mad right now that I'm going to make it my purpose in life to tell everyone how bad you guys suck with...Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars Successful repair of Panasonic KX-TGA400B keypad problem!!, January 14, 2007

[WARNING: By reading this posting, you agree to take full responsibility for any damage that may occur to your phone handset as a result of the information provided herein.]

I was able to successfully repair the "number one keypad problem" of all three of our Panasonic KX-TG400B handsets by carefully disassembling them (removing the battery first, observing static-safe procedures, etc.) and then cleaning the circuit board area around SW13 (the #1 key) _and_ the back side (including the black pad) of the "1" button on the rubber keypad itself using a paper towel wetted with grain alcohol.

Will it work with other alcohols or cleaners? I have no idea. The grain alky worked for me, so I saw no need to do further experimentation.

Good luck; be careful. If you are not confident in your ability to take the handset apart and do this procedure without causing further damage, my only advice is: Don't try it.

[BTW, my rating of this product would...Read more
