Beware, only used instead of Base, not same time,

I bought this accessory handset for my 25424RE1 phone as an additional extension for use with the base. However I found out that only the base or the cordless handset can be used at one time, i.e. you can not be talking on the base on 1 line and be talking on the handset on the other. You can not even talk on the same line with the base and the handset at the same time. In other words, when you pick up the cordless handset it locks out the base so you can not dial anyone.
This is a very bad design for a phone, who would have 4 lines and have a need to only use one at a time? I called Thompson and they have confirmed the design.
I'll be returning this today.

I find nothing worth while about this product... they are not compatable with any part of the phone system except the person whom has the base for it... basically they are worthless... RCA really should revamp these phones to work with the system instead of just one phone...
Their distance range is very poor.

The concept of this phone is great, however the cordless handset has issues. Often the volume fluctuates and is often too quiet to hear.
