RCA ViSYS 2-line Corded/Cordless Expandable System with Digital Answering System (25255RE2)

I usually don't write reviews but I had to for this purchase as there aren't many reviews for this really great phone. I've spent a great deal of time researching 2-line phones and all the various features for my small business. I even tried a few of the big brand name phones before I ended up with this one. I tried the Panasonic DECT 6.0 2-line comparable phone, which has no caller ID when you're on one line and another call comes in. Then I tried the Uniden DECT 6.0 2-line comparable phone, which has awful sound quality and a piercing echo sound when you speak into the phone. I was apprehensive about this RCA phone since there weren't any reviews but tried it anyway because of all the features. I'm so glad I did -- it's the best phone I've tried and/or read about so far.

Pros:
Set up was easy
DND/privacy (rare to find this on a 2-line phone)
Caller ID - easy to access and see (with the panasonic you had to hit 3 buttons to access)

UPDATE 8/24/2011 - We have used this system for over two years now and are still pleased with this system. My only new observation is that one of our handsets has developed an odd issue after a lightning storm where it loses it's mind and has to have the battery pulled to be reset about once a week.

Also, in response to a question sent to me, 30 yards is the max range we have tested this to.

This is a feature rich system that includes a speaker phone in the base station and an answering machine that can be set for both lines. I ordered this phone and then didn't test it out for a few months. Sat in its box. Mistake #1 - no longer able to return it to the retailer, so I'm at the mercy of RCA's warranty policy.

1st phone had corded handset problems - would cut out entirely on clients during the call. Cordless handset took about 30 tries to register. Battery replacement indicator was defective. After much time spent on the phone with RCA's tech support, sent phone back.

New phone has intermittent sound issues - clients can't hear me very well periodically, from low volume to not at all. Called RCA tech support again. How many work hours have I wasted on this phone?

Bottom line: although RCA will send you a replacement unit for warranty issues, YOU have to pay the return shipping for each defective phone. In my case, this will be 2 phones (maybe more).
