Because the Siemens Gigaset 2415 2.4 GHz cordless phone is expandable, only the base needs to be connected to a jack. You can plug a total of four handset chargers into standard power outlets, and you can operate all four handsets (Siemens model 2400) simultaneously without doing any additional wiring. For example, while you and another user talk to a third party on an outside line, two other users can talk to each other through the intercom feature on their handsets. You can customize each handset with its own ring tones, personalized directory, and extension name and number.
The 2415's full-featured answering system with 22 minutes of memory adds to its versatility. The machine records messages digitally, so there are never any tapes to fuss with, plus you can choose from four outgoing greetings. You can access messages from any Gigaset handset or remotely from any touch-tone phone.
The Siemens Gigaset 2415 includes a three-line backlit graphical display that provides caller ID/call waiting information and easy access to a call log and all other system features. The handset design includes headset jacks for hands-free use and internal antennas to protect them against damage. This phone comes with a one-year warranty.

First thing I noticed is that it uses standard rechargable AA batteries (no propriatary format). Battery life is excellent, provided you take care of them. The handset is sleek and light with more features than I have seen on any other cordless phone. Most are easy to use: the more advanced ones take a bit of learning (If you don't like them, don't use them). Answering machine controls are intuitive and easy to use as well (double speed playback works great!). I also appreciate being able to view the status of and retrieve my messages from the hanset without having to go to the base. Expandabliliy to multiple handsets is unique at this price range and, coupled with intercom, conferencing, and room monitoring features a definite plusAs for reception: I did experience white noise on the handset with the factory-set frequency. It has excellent clarity and several features that are very useful. I was a little skeptical with the 2.4 GHz phones. Until recently, I had a new, full-featured, Panasonic phone, which gave me extensive problems and the reception was poor. Wanting to increase the reception quality and security, I gave the Siemens Gigaset 2415 a try and I am very pleased. The features are excellent, caller ID, digital answering system, etc. Although, I really enjoy the directory feature, thus allowing me to find a name and press dial to call. This is a very handy tool. As noted earlier, the clarity is excellent and I haven't had any problems with battery life, but then again I usually leave the phone in the charger/base when not in use. The only minor problem that I experienced was the inability to use the phone when the power went out, but that doesn't happen often and any phone requiring power...Read more 29 of 30 people found the following review helpful: By A Customer This review is from: Siemens 2415 Gigaset 2.4 GHz Cordless System with Caller ID & TAD (White) (Office Product) I would give this phone/answering machine a mixed review. The answering machine is reliable, fairly simple to operate, and the quality of message playback is very high. I would rate the sound quality of the handset, however, as mediocre at best. There's always a little audible static (white noise or hiss) in the background, no matter how near or far you are from the base unit. Also, I've noticed a strange "echo" or feedback effect, particularly when the person on the other end of the line is on a digital cell phone (strange as that may seem). Frankly, my old Panasonic 900 MHz cordless has clearer reception. Finally, the menu system that controls all of the phone's features and settings (accessed through the handset) seems to me unnecessarily complex, and the controls on the handset don't function intuitively. On the other hand, the operating range of the handset is very good. Furthermore, the expandability of the Siemens system is great. It is nice to be...Read more |
