In my house 900mhz was not a large enough system to cover every part of my house. With the Siemens 4010 I can go over to my neighbors house and get the same clarity as I would by standing by the base. I would reccomend this phone to anyone and at this price it is a steal. 10 of 10 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Siemens Gigaset 4010 2.4 GHz DSS Expandable Cordless Phone (Black and Silver) (Office Product) As cell phones are becoming more ubiquitous than Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), most manufacturers have cut back R&D on POTS or exit the market entirely (e.g., Casio PhoneMate, Sony, Toshiba).Other than 2.4 GHz, there have been very little advancements in POTS technology. Most phones look boring (brick-like design), use inferior rechargeable batteries (NiCd), and lack features found in even the most basic cell phones (headset jack, battery life indicator). Siemens 4010 Gigaset is far from perfect, but it is one of the few that tries to keep up. The caller-id doesn't show the caller's name (only the number) after the caller calls in. To see the name, you must go into a submenu. It does show name and number while the call is coming in. Maximum volume was not enough for me, although sound was clear.Dialing numbers and hitting menu keys was slightly delayed. We regularly missed numbers when dialing at a normal speed. To switch between caller id calls, you must hit the mem key which is a little unusual, but you get used to it. The manual didn't address it, but an insert was provided with the Siemens 4200 handset I ordered at the same time. By the way, the manual had at least 1 page reference error as well. Overall, a good phone, but I'm a picky, and I couldn't live with these limitations. I returned the phones and opted for 2 more Uniden TRU346's like I already own. A few less features like conferencing, but easier interface...Read more |
