Before testing the Toshiba FT8259BK, we charged it for the recommended 12 hours. A quick guide is included for convenient reference to basic phone operations. Because of its dual keypad, one on the handset and one on the base, this phone can be used at the same time on separate lines. If the handset is already in use on one line, you can make or receive calls at the base on the other line. Indicators let you know which line is in use.
The conference and intercom buttons allow you to add a third and fourth party to conversations. To add a party to a call on line one at the base, press the hold button. Press line 2 and dial the number of the person you want to include. To bring the first person back into the conversation, press the conference button. A fourth person, at either the handset or base, can also be added to a conference call; however, voice transmission through the base on four-way conferencing is not always clear.
You can store up to 20 numbers in memory dialing and up to eight numbers in one-touch dialing. To save a number, press the memory button, enter the number, press the memory button again, and assign it to a memory dial number. A long beep lets you know the number has been successfully saved. There is even a handy pullout directory for recording your saved numbers. To dial a number, press the memory button and the corresponding memory dial number. For numbers saved in one-touch dialing, simply press the designated speed dial button.
In our tests of the Toshiba FT8259BK, we were able to take the phone about 250 feet from the base before hearing static and interference. At about 700 feet, hearing our caller became difficult due to the static. We also noticed a slight background hum even at close range, but it wasn't overly distracting. We were able to take the phone behind walls and near other electronic equipment with minimal interference. --Emily Bakko

Day (Norman, Ok) - See all my reviews This review is from: Toshiba FT8259 900 MHz 2-Line Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product) I purchased a Toshiba 900 MHz phone (doesn't have 2 lines like this one) and I had a horrible time with the battery. You couldn't leave it off the charger for more than 12 hours before it started an annoying beep. It will beep constantly even if you're not using it! I thought something was wrong with that particular phone so I exchanged for the same model. I'm having the same exact problem! I also didn't like the fact that you can't turn the ringer off. I've had several cordless phones that you can use for days without having to put them on the charger - this one won't last 12 hours! I'm in the process of contacting the company to see what I can do about this. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Toshiba FT8259 900 MHz 2-Line Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product) We bought this phone about a year ago and have been tickled pink with it. The touch pad is a good size and the one line/two line feature is easy to use. I haven't had any trouble with the batteries. And we use this phone constantly. Once charged, the battery lasts a good 2 hours+, maybe more. The reception has always been good - even out into the back yard (though our back yard isn't very big...). The two line feature is what I love the most. We have several two line phones and two portable phones, but this is the favorite phone in the house. The speaker phone fuction (and intercom) on the base is also very useful. Sorry to disagree with the other posts, but I've got nothing but praise for this model. 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Lyn (NW Connecticut) - See all my reviews This review is from: Toshiba FT8259 900 MHz 2-Line Cordless Phone (Black) (Office Product) Similar to another reviewer, I have had nothing but problemswith this phone and the batteries in particular! Both the battery inthe handset, as well as the backup battery stored in the base where it recharges, neither one has enough power to last through a 20 minute phone call. The speakerphone works beautifully but plan to throw the handset away! END |
