About DECT Technology: Advanced DECT 6.0 technology, or Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications, operates on the newly released 1.9 GHz frequency band that was recently allocated to support cordless telephony. Uniden DECT 6.0 incorporates unique "listen before transmit" technology that avoids interference with many household products, such as baby monitors, microwaves and WiFi (which operate on frequencies like 2.4 GHz). As a result, DECT phones offer consumers enhanced voice clarity and crystal clear digital sound quality. DECT 6.0 technology also offers higher security and voice protection, as well as a longer battery and battery standby life than existing 2.4 GHZ or 5.8 GHz phones.

My batteries were dead on my current phones and buying batteries would cost more than these cost so I decided to buy new. I have always like the uniden phones and these are quite nice for the money and the reception is excellent and the volume is loud. The different color faceplates make it easy to know which room the phone came from which is important in my house since no one ever puts things back where they belong. Just a note, the faceplates are permanently attached so you are stuck with the colors they send you. but they seem to blend in well enough.

The phones were great when I recvd. them. I had a problem with the base unit, called uniden direct, they tryed to resolve. They sent me a base unit and 4 hand-sets, not the same as I purchased... and thats that... the ones they sent look to be re-furbished.. now I have 6 like new handsets, a base that does not work, a only 4 used handsets... pay the extra, and get a good system.. And as for Amazon, after 30 days your on your own....
