Uniden DECT 6.0 Two-Line Cordless Phone with Caller ID (DECT4066A) (Black)

On paper, this phone sounded perfect for my little at-home business. After 3 days of living with it, I sent it back and downgraded to the older TRU8866 model (linked below), which is superior in every place that counts for me. For starters, the newer-tech DECT 6.0 reception was surprisingly WORSE in my 2-story home than the trusty 5.8Ghz. The handset volume doesn't go high enough, and the tinny-sounding speakerphone is totally unusable for me on both the handsets and base station. While the lightweight handset certainly looks stylish, it actually takes more effort to balance it into its cradle than the old model, and would frequently slide out if I wasn't careful. The same is even more true of the accessory expansion handsets. This also prevented me from setting a handset down on the table for a freestanding hands-free speaker conversation- it's too thin to do so reliably. I am very happy we purchased this model. We had an old Uniden line 1 model that was still working (5+ years old) and we decided to finally upgrade.

Uniden makes good products. The handsets are tough & I can tell that they are going to survive us dropping them here and there on the concrete ground.

I particularly like that its 2 Lines with out an answering machine (we have voicemail).

The handset is light weight and clips securely. If you have a cell phone you can quickly program the base station as well as the handsets...

We have a 2000 + sq ft facility and have not had any issues what so ever with this unit coming in. I think they are very crisp and clear when speaking on the phone.

I would highly recommend these if your looking for a good working line 1/line 2 cordless with no answering machine!!

DECT is far superior that the usual the 900 MHz, 2.4 GHz, or 5.8 GHz band cordless phones in terms of range and clarity. I needed a two line phone and this one handles them with ease and allows flexibility in conferencing between lines and prioritizing which line is used first. The speakerphone is clear. The unit is compact. Programming can be complicated, commensurate with the sophistication of the phone. But if you are a wee bit technical savvy, the phone can be setup in minutes with the programming done whenever.
