I got this phone to replace an older Uniden phone. It is almost all good, and the bits that are not great are not really it's fault. So, here we go:

Base Station:
Large display is nice. Speaker phone and handset both work well. Answering machine messages are recorded clearly (much better than my older model was). All of the configuration is done through on screen menus, and Uniden made good use of the display. It responds quickly to the button presses, and I didn't have any trouble figuring out what any of the options were, or how to set them. Clock setting, in particular, is a huge upgrade from my older unit.

For bonus points, when the power is off, the wired handset will still work to allow you to make and receive calls. You don't get caller ID or anything off the LCD display, but it does free you from having to have a spare phone sitting around for use in case of a power outage.

I bought this phone to replace an old Panasonic. I also have Uniden and AT&T phones with corded bases and cordless handsets. Previously I had a Vtech system. This is by far the best phone system I have ever used. The detailed planning that went into this phone is amazing.
I have been using it for about two weeks and haven't found anything to complain about. It has wonderful range and battery life and I love the alarms you can set on the cordless handset.
I will be buying one or two more handsets to go with it which I need for the use of the intercom.
Everything about this phone is easy to use and very straight forward.

This phone is pretty crappy.

The underlying core problem is that the cordless handsets sometimes just can't connect to the base station. This is an intermittent problem and I've had no luck figuring out what the reasons are. We don't have that big of a house, and DECT is supposed to give you better range, isn't it? Sometimes the handset says it can't connect to the base station when I'm holding the phone less than 1 foot from the base station antenna. I'm not kidding. Sometimes when I try to answer a call, I note that there are 4 bars of signal strength, but immediately after I hit "line 1" the signal meter drops to 0 or 1 bar and the phone "hangs" (it won't accept any button input -- really bad internal programming, ugh) for 30 or 45 or 60 seconds.
