The Uniden UIP165 system operates on a 5.8 GHz frequency and offers digital signal transmission, which provides minimal channel searching and does not interfere with Wi-Fi networks. The system is expandable to include a total of 10 handsets with charging cradles (available separately). With the UIP165P Voice over IP (VoIP) telephone, Packet8 VoIP service and your broadband connection (Packet8 and broadband both require subscription), you can access the Internet and make phone calls simultaneously. The UIP165P can connect directly to your broadband modem or can connect to a router or switch in your home network. It generates and receives voice data and forwards data traffic to your computer or network. With subscription to local service, the phone is compatible with Call Waiting Caller ID. It will display the name, number and date and time of each call on the backlit LCD, and will store up to 100 names with two numbers each, so you can return calls at the touch of a button. Even without Caller ID service, a phonebook stores 10 of your most frequently-dialed numbers. The handset and base each include a digital speakerphone The base is wall mountable or sits sturdily on a countertop, providing you with plenty of display options, and a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 polyphonic melodies) give you a variety of choices.
