Vtech I5808 - Full Color Accessory Handset w/ Picture Caller ID
Amazon.com
The I5808 is an accessory handset requiring the I5871 base system for operation. You don't need a phone jack for this handset—just an electrical outlet to plug into. You can transfer calls and use the intercom function between phones to aid communications. The large lighted handset display with graphics allows for easy navigation of phone's features using the icon driven menu. You can also personalize your phone's display using any of the preset wallpaper images, or have fun with picture caller ID that associates caller ID information with preset images when your friends or family call you. Both the handset and base display the name and number of the last 100 callers. (Caller ID services require subscription through your provider.) 5.8 GHz technology offers you the best available performance when it comes to clarity and security. To be on the 5.8 GHz wavelength means you're on a much less trafficked area of the bandwidth than both the 2.4 GHz and 900 MHz products occupy. The handset includes a standard headset jack for hands-free operation, and easy to use volume controls so you can adjust the level to your preference. VTech includes a one-year warranty covering parts and service. What's in the Box: Handset, charger, charger adapter, belt clip, battery, audio patch cable, USB cable, VTech phonebook manager CD, user's manual, quick start guide, special features guide, warranty card

Vtech I5808 - Full Color Accessory Handset w/ Picture Caller ID

We purchased these phones with the base and absolutely love them. The reception is fanastic. We haven't had any problems hearing people or with issues about being away from the base phone as a previous reviewer had with his phone. In fact, I have taken the phone outside to get the mail, the mailbox is over 50 feet away, and can hear perfectly.
The two cons: You do have to program each handset individually, but I would most definitly still buy this phone. The other con: We have a MAC computer and it is only Windows compatible, so we use my work laptop computer for our data transfers.
I am extremely happy with this unit and would highly recommend it.

I purchased the i5871 base unit and three i5808 handsets to replace an aging Siemans Gigaset system. Initial impressions are that the system is very stylish and looks good in pretty much any room. However, the handsets are not comfortable to use for long periods of time. The sharp edges are simply not compatible with my ear, and I've gotten similar complaints from other users. The phone book management is archaic at best. It is frustrating to have to update each handset individually. Sound quality is above average, but the handsets are continuously resetting or loosing connection to the base, even standing right next to it. This happens in the middle of phone calls, checking voicemail, or while trying to dial. I've tried Vtech's support recommendations of re-registering the handsets at the base, unplugging everything and letting it reset, and nothing seems to work. Ultimately, I have several hundred dollars invested in a phone system that is just out of warranty and is too...Read more

I love it, I just wish I could edit the address book with my Mac. Hopefully they will build a Mac client, if not I guess I can use my wife's new macBook which I installed windows crapola XP on it.
