The second handset works off the base unit, so you only need one jack to run both phones. Just connect the base unit to your phone line, then plug the extra charger into an electrical outlet in any room you choose.
The LCD screen on each handset allows you to view the name, number, time and date of incoming calls at a glance, even those on Call Waiting. Caller ID stores the name, number, time and date of up to 45 incoming calls. The 20 name/number phone book directory lets you store important contact information for easy access.
The ia5864 features enhanced 5.8 GHz technology, which offers the best available performance for clarity, range and security. Backlit keys and display make it easy to dial in low light, and the any key answer function means you’ll never miss a call fumbling for the talk button. Separate volume controls on the handset and base let you customize the proper audio levels. This phone also features last-number redial and a handset locator key.

I was looking for new cordless phones. These were nice looking and a fair price but to my major disappointment they were not at all what i had hoped. We charged them for the time specified and on my very 1st call I was about to throw the hand set out the window . There was a terrible echo in the phone and after just 45 min of use it was telling me i needed to recharge the handset. If you turned the volume down you lose the echo but also the ability to hear the person you are talking to. In a nut shell i took the phone back after 3 days and paid $10.00 more for an At&t set and have been beyond happy ... just one more added note one other reason i picked these was because I have a wireless network and was told a 5.8Hz would work better... well they didnt and the AT&T set i bought are 2.4GHz and work wonderful 4 of 4 people found the following review helpful: This review is from: Vtech IA 5864 - 5.8 GHz Dual Handset Cordless Phone System w/ Digital Answering Device, caller ID & Call Waiting (Office Product) Pluses - easy setup, speed dial (9), distinctive ring for special #s, forward call from one handset to another, decent voice quality, 'message record' or 'just announce' choice
Minuses - cannot use both handsets at the same time to speak in parallel, no speakerphone, no intercom, having problems with time changing on its own on the phone despite having set it a few times. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: By Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) This review is from: Vtech IA 5864 - 5.8 GHz Dual Handset Cordless Phone System w/ Digital Answering Device, caller ID & Call Waiting (Office Product) I have had plenty of cordless phones and this set works as well as any other I've had. I have had no problems with it keeping a charge or hearing people on it. I sometimes even have to lower the volume because it is too loud. I have not gotten complaints that people can't hear me so I assume that works well too. I talk on the phone for hours and if left to charge overnight, I never have a problem with the battery running low. I find that I always keep one on a charger so that if the one I'm using dies, I have the other one I can switch to. I picked this phone because it has a headset jack which is hard to find on a lot of phones I look at in the stores. I do notice some interference when I am near the computer or my cell phone but it is minimal. I'm honestly surprised by the poor reviews this phone got from a couple of people since I had no issues with this phone and would recommend it to someone looking for a multi-handset cordless phone with an answering machine and...Read more |
